How Upstart Projects are empowering the next generation of artistic leaders

Hands raised in an educational workshop

This year we are working with an organisation who are dedicated to supporting young people with their careers in the arts.

“We champion youth voice and leadership through all our work.”

Upstart Projects

Upstart Projects works with those aged 13-30 to “find their voice in the arts” and gain the skills and experience to grow as arts and media practitioners.

Opening up potential

They run projects year-round that create opportunities for young people to explore their potential. They also offer consultancy which means they guide other organisations and projects like ours.

They’re especially focused on opening up doors for those who haven’t yet had the chance to take part in these kind of workshops.

“We want to help create a society which offers pathways into the cultural sector for people from all backgrounds.”

Creative collaboration

This year, their staff have been helping Shout Out for the Arts! They have been advising us on how to engage young communities in the right way.

They have also been working with us to give those aged 16–25 training that grows the skills needed to take on leadership roles in the creative sector.

A free training day

Our upcoming training day in December will be run by Upstart Projects and if you’re a student interested in theatre, music, dance or art, you won’t want to miss this.

During the session, practitioners will deliver a workshop that gives real, practical, experience of working with an arts organisation in a role that influences decision-making.

Interested? Fill in the online form and someone will get back to you.
